If you have visited pinterest I'm sure you have seen toilet paper roll art. The idea is very simple and I thought worth a try. Here is how it unrolled (no pun intended.. okay maybe)
start collecting toilet paper and paper towel rolls. I was amazed how quickly our family accumulated these however it took many many more so we had a few people save them for us
| Cut the tubes into 1/2 inch strips. I marked out the first couple of rolls before I just started to eyeball it |
I tried stapling the rings together but it was difficult, I then moved on to my handy glue tape but it didn't hold. I will be using my glue gun for the rest of the project
stagger the strips, glue and pinch them together
| make any design you like, I chose a flower like design |
| as usual I got carried away and it became much bigger than I had planned... |
| It seems to work on the giant space above the couch |
| Family vote for a dash of color |
| Here we go... |
| one spray can later |
| HOT! |
| and of course if we get tired of it we can spray it another color |
Front Room

Love the design you made and that you decided to brighten it up with such a pop of color. I went to help my daughter move into her new apt. that she shares with two others and someone had also done a very pretty toilet roll design over the fireplace. The possibilities with this craft are vast!

Isn't it amazing something as pedestrian as a cardboard roll could be transformed in so many beautiful ways!

ReplyDeletei agree, i was tempted to spray it a coral color but went pink the last minute.
DeleteLove this! I've been saving up tp rolls to do a similar project and am glad I saw this post. I wasn't sure how spray paint would work but it looks like it came out lovely. Was it difficult to spray the inside of the rolls?
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!
Hi Angie,
Deletespraying wasnt difficult at all it just took a bit of time, circling the art and spraying and spraying some more. I did go through an entire can of spray paint :)
I have been saving rolls just to try this myself. Maybe once both kids have started school for the year...
ReplyDeleteI like that you spray painted it, it helps to make it not look like toilet paper rolls.
ReplyDeleteIf you get a chance I would love for you to come link up this post at my Pin Party.
